Job Description

This apprenticeship will provide extensive experience of hospitality with a variety of roles including customer service, food preparation and staff and volunteer management. Working in busy and popular restaurant with a difference, you will gain invaluable knowledge and experience as well as helping the community and having fun!

About this role

This exciting opportunity in a new and forward-thinking organisation allows the candidate great scope to super-charge their own future employability.

You can gain hands-on experience in hospitality within the busy restaurant in a tourist town, including waiting, bar, administration such as stock management and general tasks involved in the running of the organisation.

Hours

30-hours per week from Monday to Sunday, working 4-5 days per week including weekends. Hours to be agreed between the apprentice and line manager.

Training will include the following abilities:

> Participate in the overall operation of the food service team in assigned areas

> Provide excellent food sales and service as needed

> Follow procedures and policies to the highest standards and endorse customer satisfaction

> Maintain cleanliness; clean equipment, dishes, and silverware as needed

> Perform opening and closing duties including storing all reusable goods, breaking down goods, cleaning all equipment and areas, returning equipment to proper locations, locking refrigerators, restocking items, turning off lights, locking doors, and completing daily cleaning checklist

> Maintain stock and display food in according to established standards

> Handle a daily cash bank and follow cash handling procedures

> Set up, stock, and maintain work areas

> Inspect the cleanliness and presentation of all china, glass, and silver prior to use

> Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day, practicing clean-as-you-go procedures

> Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, and listen and respond appropriately to other employees

> Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; and complete safety training and certifications

> Ensure clothing and personal appearance is clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect our assets

> Accountable for your levels of sales and profit

> Welcome and acknowledge all customers according to our standards, anticipate and address guests’ service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank customers with genuine appreciation. Also ensure team is performing in the same manner

> Speak with others using clear and professional language. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team to reach common goals

> Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; and identify, recommend, develop, and implement new ways to increase organisational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and/or cost-savings

> To support the team by assisting with other duties as needed

We are looking for someone who has:

> An interest in animal welfare

> An interest in pursuing a career in hospitality related fields

> Excellent spoken communication skills and customer service manners

> Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time

> Good organisational skills

> Enjoys working as part of a team of staff and other volunteers

> Able to work at weekends

Job Type: Apprenticeship

Salary: £3.90 /hour (National Apprenticeship Wage)
