Job Description

Pause Cat Cafe is now recruiting a chef to join our fabulous team. You will be expected to prepare and deliver exceptional vegetarian, vegan and gluten free food, using fresh ingredients. Customers at Pause will have booked a slot in which to sit and relax with our wonderful cats, so ensuring they receive their food on time is of the utmost importance.

All of our ingredients for the menu are locally and ethically sourced, and you will share our ethos to bring people and animals closer together. This will be a fast-paced environment that will keep you on your toes (or paws) so be prepared for an exciting alternative to cafe dining.

Due to the nature of the cafe, you will be expected to be able to answer customer questions. Although we have trained cat care specialists, you will also be aware of our codes of conduct, cat care routines and all the health and safety regulations we are adhering to in order to stay open. This cafe concept is new to Bournemouth, and will not always be met with positivity. However, we have a list of FAQs regarding the safety of cats and customers, and you will refer to this when answering questions (all of which is included in your initial training).

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to;

  • Serving and maintaining a high standard of hot and cold food; maintaining an excellent standard of hygiene
  • Setting up and closing down the kitchen station
  • Liaising with the front of house team to ensure food is sent out quickly and efficiently.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience within a fast-paced environment
  • NVQ qualifications and knowledge of food hygiene standards
  • Excellent time keeping
  • Good level of English (B2 minimum)
  • A respect of Pause Cat Cafe’s ethos and overall aim
  • Previous experience with animals

£NMW to start, with a view to increasing as the employee progresses. Negotiable depending on experience for the right candidate.

Job Type: Flexible hours from 8 to 16 hours per week depending on the candidate.
